What is a typical session like?I get this question a LOT and I absolutely understand why BUT! I think any tutor worth your time is going to tell you this: It depends entirely on the student. I can't answer that accurately until I meet your child. And here's why: my lessons are not boiler plate for all kids. If your daughter knows how to write essays and doesn't need help with that for her ACT, we won't focus on it. If your son is struggling with limits but knows how to FOIL, I'm not going to waste his time. Or yours! So let's get to know each other a little and we'll take it from there!
-
Will you take my test / do my hw / guarantee a score / doctor answers / etc.?ABSOLUTELY NOT. We are here to educate, encourage, and assist. Never, ever will your tutor agree to cheat for you. Your scores reflect your work and your aptitude. We hope you're happy with them; we hope we help them go up. But no, we will not do your work for you. We also do not guarantee grade or score increases because there are simply too many variables at play -- it's your work and you're ultimately responsible for it.
-
Do you teach entire course ?Yes, We do. We don’t like when our students skip entire semester of Math, which is such a vital part of STEM education. We offer complete programs where we train students in Math 1,2,3 and Physics exactly like how school does.
-
How long are tutoring sessions? Can I do a 30 minute session?MWA Tutoring offers 1 hour, 1.5 hour, and 2 hour tutoring sessions. We do not offer 30 minute sessions. 1 hour sessions are the shortest session length we offer at this time. SAT/ ACT are recommended for 2 hours.
-
Does tutor work with more than 1 student in a session? No, All our sessions are always 1:1. That’s our USP! We never have any group sessions.
-
How do I know that tutoring will help? How do you ensure quality tutoring? With any service, you cannot be 100% certain that it will work out. That being said, if you search “ mathworldacademy Tutoring in cary” on Google, you will see that our organization has over 50 five star reviews. That track record simply would not be possible if we were providing a sub-par service. We love learning, we love teaching, and we love acting as a mentor to younger students. More importantly, we are experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated to our students. We will do everything we can to help them understand concepts and cultivate stronger study skills and organizational habits.
-
What are the obligations of the student? The Student undertakes to assist the Tutor in identifying problem areas in which the Student needs specific tutoring. The Student agrees to be prepared for every session by having all materials, utensils, homework, etc. ready and available in the designated tutoring location prior to the Tutor arriving. The Student agrees that assignments, exercises or homework form an integral part of tutoring and undertakes to complete such work timely.
-
How much does tutoring cost? Please check out our pricing page. Our typical cost varies from $35 per hour to $50 per hour depending on your study level. You will get discounts based on number of sessions per week.
-
The rate is a bit outside my price range, is there any room for "negotiation"?To educate and empower is our main goal, but we do need to keep pricing to a certain level to account for all the expenses and maintain the quality of work. Having said that, we are one of the cheapest in the business. The best way to reduce tutoring costs is through 'referring' and signing up with 'siblings'. Check to see if any of your friends or neighbors have students in need of tutoring in the same subject(s) that your student needs. If none of these options work for you, contact me and we will work something out.
-
What type of payment Is accepted? We take all most major credit and debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover. [The processing fee is approximately 2.9%. It will be included in your monthly invoice.] You may also use PayPal, Venmo or Zelle.
-
What is the payment frequency?Depending on our agreement, you will have the option to pay 'Daily', 'Weekly' or 'Monthly'.
-
What happens if I cannot make it to my tutoring session? Please check out our cancellations policy. Clients may cancel sessions up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time. If the client cancels or requests to reschedule the tutoring session less than 24 hours before the session, the client will still be charged for that session in full. We ask that you respect our tutors’ time and do not cancel last minute. If, of course, there is an unexpected family emergency or illness, the cancellation may be excused.
